Manuscript Selection Process
Phase One: Editorial Board Review
The Editorial Board of the Fundación Universitaria Española will review the proposal dossier and the first 50 pages of the manuscript to determine whether it can proceed to the second phase.
Phase Two: Review by Series Editors
If the manuscript passes the first phase, it will be forwarded to the editor of the relevant series. The series editor will assess the proposal and provide an opinion. The decision regarding acceptance or rejection will be communicated to the author(s) via email.
Phase Three: Double-Blind Peer Review
Two external subject matter experts, unaffiliated with the publishing house, will evaluate the manuscript within a period of 30 days. Their assessment will consider the scientific rigor, the quality of research findings, and the clarity of the writing.
Both reviewers must issue a favorable report for the manuscript to be accepted for publication. In the case of a split decision, a third reviewer will be consulted.
If the manuscript is favorably reviewed but requires revisions, the author will receive detailed feedback and will have 30 days to submit a revised version. The revised manuscript will be sent back to the same reviewers for a second evaluation, after which a final decision will be made. This decision will be communicated to the author(s) via email.
The final acceptance of the work will be issued within a maximum of 3 months, except in cases where further revisions are required.
Phase Four: Preproduction and Production
Once accepted, the author and the publishing house will sign a publishing contract. The author must provide a high-quality, copyright-free image for the book cover and a short text for the back cover. After layout and typesetting, the author will have 14 days to review the page proofs and make minor corrections. The book will be published within a maximum of 6 months from the final approval of the manuscript.
Code of Conduct
The Fundación Universitaria Española publishing house is committed to the ethical principles of scientific and editorial activity, in accordance with the standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct. Each author declares responsibility for the content and its originality, and accepts the associated ethical obligations. If necessary, a declaration of conflict of interest may be submitted.
AUTHORS’ DUTIES

This commitment ensures respect for the exploitation rights acquired by the publisher and helps sustain the editorial model.
Acceptance of editorial decisions: If external reviews advise against publication, the author must accept that the manuscript has been rejected. Preliminary acceptance by the editors will not be final if experts advise otherwise.

Reviewers should point out any relevant published works not cited in the manuscript, so that the author can include them. They should also note any statements or data that require citation of sources. For the sake of academic rigor, reviewers must notify the editors of any substantial overlap or similarity between the manuscript and other previously published works.
