Seminar on Humanities and Education
The Seminar on Humanities and Education is established as a space for study, research, and training rooted in the tradition of Greek paideia, Christian humanism, and realist philosophy, with the conviction that this legacy holds enduring relevance and significance for cultural renewal in our time. The Humanities are understood as a profound knowledge of human nature—philosophy—of its expressions—literature, art—and of its meaning—history, theology. Education, in turn, is conceived as the formative development of the person within Western civilization. The union of Humanities and Education that the Seminar seeks aims to be nourished by this educational tradition and to carry it forward.
In line with this, the Seminar offers:
– A systematic course in Philosophical Anthropology, aimed at disseminating knowledge to a non-specialist audience. Within this framework, it has included an Introduction to Anthropology (2019–2020), an Initiation to Greek Philosophy (2021–2022), and an Initiation to Medieval Philosophy (2023–2024).
– Educational series for the dissemination of research project results funded by the Seminar. For example, the cycles The Mystery of Evil I (2022) and II (2023) have been held.
– Hosting and support for doctoral students during research stays.
– Thematic meetings for teachers and researchers.
