Seminar on History "Cisneros"

Seminar on History “Cisneros” promotes research and cultural dissemination of world history, with a special focus on the history of Spain and the Americas. It provides a platform for academic exchange and collaboration among professors and researchers from across Spain and the international community. The Seminar is directed by Dr. José Luis Sánchez García, trustee of the FUE, and coordinated by Dr. Cristina del Prado Higuera. The Advisory Council is composed of distinguished academics and scholars in this field, who support and strengthen the Seminar’s various activities through their work.

Since 1970, the Seminar has been engaged in numerous research projects that have led to monographic courses, seminars, conferences, keynote lectures, book presentations, the production of scientific documentary videos, and the nomination of candidates for prestigious awards in the field of history. When planning the Seminar’s activities, we take into account historically significant anniversaries and commemorate those considered to be of greatest interest. The Seminar maintains ongoing collaboration with institutions such as the Royal Academy of History, research centers, and universities including the Catholic University of Valencia and Rey Juan Carlos University.

The results of the Seminar’s research are regularly published in the Biografías sobre Personajes Históricos series, and previously in the Tesis doctorales Cum Laude collection. Notable works from the latter include, among others: La Monarquía Española y América. Filosofía política de la Corona según la Legislación y el pensamiento de Las Casas, Vitoria y Julián Marías, by Enrique González Fernández; Testimonios históricos y míticos de la ciudad de Suruppak Sanchiz, by Hipólito Álvarez De Toledo; La España de la posguerra: una visión a través del cine (1939–1959), by José Mendo Muñoz; and La mujer peninsular en la nueva España en el siglo XVI, by Lucas Montojo Sánchez.

The journal Cuadernos de Investigación Histórica, which has been published annually without interruption since 1977, is included in scientific and editorial quality indexes such as SCOPUS, and is evaluated by DOAJ, ERIH Plus, the Latindex 2.0 Catalog, REDIB, and CARHUS Plus+ 2018. It is indexed in both multidisciplinary and specialized databases and is available in all university libraries affiliated with the REBIUN Network (Red de Bibliotecas Universitarias Españolas).
